Soweto heads for the Taste of Joburg 2010

The Taste of Joburg festival, which is set to once again tantalise the taste buds of the city’s food lovers, will see the pairing of one of South Africa’s best loved maize meal brands, White Star Super Maize Meal, with The Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre’s Jazz Maniacs restaurant to provide festival-goers with a unique culinary experience.

From the 30th of September to the 3rd of October, visitors will get the chance to enjoy one of the main attractions of the event as they take in the sounds of the Jazz Maniacs’ resident jazz band, Sydney Mnisi’s Quartet, while dining on dishes featuring White Star Super Maize Meal in an unexpected way.

“After a very successful exhibition last year, we are looking forward to showing the public what Jazz Maniacs has to offer through this collaboration with White Star. We’ve been innovative in our use of maize meal in our signature dishes which will give guests the local flavour they are accustomed to with a hint of international flair”, says Lindiwe Sangweni-Siddo, general manager of The Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre.

White Star Super Maize Meal Brand Manager Mokhele Makhothi says, “We are very excited to be part of this year’s festival and to be partnering with Soweto Hotel and Jazz Maniacs. With delicious food on offer, great jazz and a good time in store for all, we hope to give everyone a taste of e kasi. Come and join us for a bite at Montecasino’s Outdoor Event Area”.
