The Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre is pleased that its restaurant – Jazz Maniacs – has been selected as the venue for the next Cape Wine Academy wine and food evening. These tantalizing dining sessions focus on the exquisite combination of wine and food by providing an 8-course dinner with accompanying wines, a taste sensation not to be missed. |
The wine and food evening takes place on Friday, 26 November from 18:30 to 21:30 at a cost of R350 per person. This includes the meal and accompanying wines but excludes any other beverages or extras. The experience also includes a cause and effect technical tasting followed by a short discussion on wine etiquette, glasses, wine accessories and wine styles, all under the guidance of Marilyn Cooper, Managing Director of the Cape Wine Academy, a Cape Wine Master and co-founding partner of the Soweto Wine Festival. “It’s a fun, relaxed evening for anyone, not just connoisseurs. As we always say, there’s no pre-requisite to attend, you just need to enjoy wine and be open to the fantastic array of tastes and experiences”, says Cooper. “The beauty of wine is its ability to infuse new flavours and nuances with different foods”. The menu consists of Green Salad and Vinaigrette; Seafood Cocktail;
Cappuccino of Cold Tomato and Mint Soup; Ostrich Carpaccio with Sweet
and Chilli Confit; Pan-Fried Fillet served with Mushrooms on Grilled
Polenta; Blue Cheese & Water Biscuits; Chocolate Mousse. “This
array gives us an opportunity to demonstrate how some of the traditionally ‘difficult’ wines
are paired with food selections that absolutely work,” add Cooper. |
